33 Impressive Negative Space Logos

Negative space when used effectively can be stunning. Cleverly subtle yet powerfully direct, it is a technique that can take a good idea and make it transcendent. One of the better examples of a simple implementation of negative space which says a lot is the FedEx logo.

fedex

How long did it take you before you noticed the arrow? One of the signs of a good negative space design is one in which the design does not suffer if the negative space element goes unnoticed.

Some of our sellers on Brandstack are particularly adept at incorporating negative space into their designs. Here are some of our favorite examples of negative space logo designs on Brandstack:

antartica

designswan

portrait

illusion

shortfilm

horrorfilms

shoeloess

pendulum

mudrun

pushthebottle

pianoforest

fatcat

healthy-additions

fish

canoe

invisibleagent

wineforum

etc

pingo

tulipart

deadbattery

bird

xmas

installers

birdlove

silkskin

shttalkin

birdsmagazine

bigpark

exhaust

Stay tuned to Brandstack tomorrow for more negative space logo design fun we have planned.

I am always impressed when I see these logos with clever negative space usage. If I have to choose 3 of these … I admire Fedex (as the king of negative space logos), Horror films and Piano forrest … but, it is unfair little bit, most of all logos selected here are great pieces of hard work and deserves attention. Oh BTW thanks for featuring my WAVE logo.

Sweet – I really love these kind of logo’s. They’re really well designed.

Thanks a lot for the inspiration! Also, you forgot the “Toblerone” logo – it’s pretty great with using the negative space too!

All of these logos are great, it’s hard to pick any favorites! The use of negative space when done well always seems to look very professional and slick, without compromising on creativity and style.

Thank you for the post. I think the Design Swan logo is my favorite but they are all really nice. I agree also about the A&E logo. The use of negative space there is pretty strong.

Thanks again!

Some of those logos are just the sex. Negative space logos can often be so much more appealing and memorable – even if you don’t see what’s going on.

Your brain tells you there’s something sexy about it, even if your eyes don’t see it.

I remember when someone first pointed out the arrow in the FedEx logo. Now everytime I look at it, it’s the first thing I see.

I love how you started out with the FedEx. I mean… how could you not. However, and maybe its just me, but the Pingo logo with the Penguins is a stretch for this list. The Penguins look to scary and creepy for me to even look for the negative space. Just my thoughts.

I like also the VIROM’s logo – http://www.virom.ro – a logo designed for a Romanian company specialized in building reinforced concrete structures for large scale projects. The “V” letter encompasses the shape of a lead pendulum -a tool used to verify the verticality of structures, from ancient times (http://imgs.tootoo.com/f4/f8/f4f8beb885ace5802b7c916fc1584a3c.jpg).
