Open Design Market Expands Concept As A Turnkey Design Solution
06.10.2009 – SAN ANTONIO, Texas — IncSpring, an online open marketplace for company logos, is expanding its platform to include more print and Web design options. With the expansion of its marketplace to include more design elements, IncSpring is also adopting Brandstack as its new name and identity.
“We chose Brandstack as our new name in order to better communicate the benefit we provide for companies in need of an identity overhaul,” says Wes Wilson, founder of Brandstack, formerly IncSpring. “It also gave us an opportunity to use our own service by purchasing a design and asking the designer to make some minor modifications. You could say that we just ate our own dog food.”
Brandstack will allow companies to purchase an entire package — identity, web, print, and message — and/or individual elements that they need as they need them. Prices range from $9.99 for a domain name to a logo design for $150 to $2,000, on average.
“Since we launched in March 2008, our members, which consist of designers and branding specialists, have focused mostly on logos and domain names,” said Wilson. “So, it was just a natural evolution to stack on more brand solutions for companies hoping to find affordable design options as we move toward providing a full turnkey design service.”
According to Wilson, the expansion also allows Brandstack to work directly with the Web designers, print designers, and domain owners on a more personal, full service level. Specifically, it will allow designers to build an entire “brand stack” or just one design element, leaving the other elements open for others to create and sell. Buyers will also be notified which items they need to complete their remaining stacks or which venders they could connect with direct, including public relations professionals, marketers, and printers.
For start-up companies, Brandstack allows purchasers an opportunity to search and review designs from more than 64 different categories that range from automotive to transportation. Once selected, the owner can purchase the logo outright or make an offer and request design modifications.
“It takes the guesswork out of choosing a design for companies, and provides designers an opportunity to showcase their work by allowing them to create designs that they wish clients would ask them for,” says Wilson. “What’s even more exciting for Brandstack is that we will offer brand management and communication advice for the first time and feature an open interface that links to other creative elements whether or not it is available for purchase on our site.”
Brandstack will place an additional emphasis on partnerships with other service providers and third party solutions, Wilson said. Brandstack is also recruiting bloggers, designers, we developers, and SEO/SEM experts to provide educational articles for new designers as well as companies.
Brandstack was founded in April 2008 by Wes Wilson. Wilson, a former commercial banker who moonlighted as a designer, came up with the concept to help small business applicants establish their identities as quickly and affordably as possible. Today, Brandstack has more than 2,200 designers and 2,500 designs.
